haiku

Turning my mind from

cleaning to writing, I stretch

to find syllables.

One Word - so little time [jocular]

We're lead by myth and media to believe that The Man In The Moon has a jocular disposition, but his appearance, especially when clouded by mist and branches, is melancholy and pale. Is he wan with loneliness or is he perhaps afraid of the dark?

haiku (for Jay)

I let you taste the

strawberries I'm slicing while

you grill sausages.

One Word - so little time [sedition]

As we struggled to restrain the long branches of wild rose it became increasingly clear that the were intent on sedition. Still with a combination of rope, pruning shears, ingenuity, brute strength and determination, in other words "a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence," we were finally able to whip them into shape.

magnetic haiku (for Jay)

I want to learn to
dazzle you with delicious
poetry kisses

55 Fiction Friday

Jessica’s discomfort at discussing the break with her mentor was so palpable that the duke did not press her on the subject. He assumed the professor had made inappropriate advances to his young pupil and British decorum prevented him from causing his daughter further discomfort despite his continuing curiosity regarding the circumstances of her disappearance.

[FIRST] [PREVIOUS] (to be continued...)

One Word - so little time [undulant]

He stood in the doorway with his mouth agape. Somehow she had transformed the living room into a forest glade. She had even placed something under parts of the carpet to make it undulant like a natural landscape. It helped that the carpet was green. She had painted the ceiling blue and white and had painted trees on the walls. There were potted flowers everywhere and even a fountain. It was fantastic!

www.oneword.com - one word, so little time [leaf]

I slowly sank my teeth into the spearmint leaf delighting in the sweet gumminess and slight grit of the sugar coating. The familiar sensation transported me back in time to my childhood and long car trips which were probably far more fun in retrospect than they had been at the time.

haiku - Out Of Sight Out Of Mind

The short answer is

yes we have some potatoes...

you don't want any.

www.oneword.com - one word, so little time [delicate]

I was sad to see that the delicate crocuses had been shredded by the previous night's storm. I had enjoyed the pounding rain and thunder thinking that the moisture would be good for all of the flowers. I didn't realize that the first of them would prove to be so fragile.

haiku

An unexpected

silence replaces pounding

spring rain with soft mist

One Word - so little time [roborant]

His kiss when I came through the door was so roborant to my spirit that I would cling to him for several moments. I felt like a computer rebooting and had come to nickname this welcome home greeting as "hitting the reset button" at the end of my day. I almost felt like a new woman.

A delightfully

surprising daffodil popped

it's head up today!

One Word - so little time [autochthonous]

Dandelions have been so ever present that I always assumed they were autochthonous. I didn't realize that they had been brought over from Europe by settlers. Stupid humans. Actually, I never really minded dandelions. I'd always found them to be rather cheerful, and as I child I could always make my grandmother smile with a dandelion bouquet.

The Spring sun through the

One Word - so little time [expunge]

While it had only taken moments and the act of turning the key in her car's ignition on Friday to expunge all thoughts of work from her mind, as Sunday was wearing on responsibility began to creep back into her brain and the stacks of paper that waited on her desk towered in her future.
