Her mother had drilled honesty into her head from such an early age that when the time came that she needed to lie to her mother to save her life, she almost couldn't get the words out. "Come on, Mom! Dad's already in the tunnel!" He wasn't. She didn't actually know where her father was, but it was the only way she could get her mother out before the soldiers got there.
