Nothing could soothe him to sleep like the music of her voice. Whether singing or speaking, it wove the sweetest melody he had ever heard. This was why he ordered her to sit up each night to read to him while he slept. Her voice carried into his dreams like a spell and wished away all the cares of his kingdom. He might never get to posess the body of this innocent maiden, but her voice belonged to him.

That's how my 55 Fiction Fridays got started, with a OneWord. The word was "petal."
The background on this is the usual cursed king and the common girl that can save him. You know, that old chestnut.
