I first got into writing haiku because I wanted to try to write something every day. I figured I could manage seventeen syllables a day. Little did I know that it was the one too many or one too few that would be most maddening. Then again, that’s what thesauruses are for, or are they as extinct as their Jurassic name implies? Little did I know I would become so fascinated by haiku. The métier sort of snuck up on me.
