The quivering tremble of her lower lip only served to accentuate its fullness and make her sweet mouth all the more alluring. He would do anything to make that mouth smile, but he could not even speak to alleviate the sting of her current pain. He could only silently set a cup of tea at her elbow and melt into the background once more. It was not a butler's place to comfort his employer by any more personal gesture.
