"And...?" she asked hovering in the doorway to my office.
"And what?" I responded, sorting through papers as though I was too distracted to know what she was talking about.
"And how did it go?" she pounced on my guest chair, clearly not intending to leave until she got some dish.
"Well, let me put it to you this way. Have you ever had a date that went so well you wound up with blisters?" I picked up my notebook and walked calmly to my meeting, leaving her to gleefully let her mind squirm around what I could have meant. I was very careful not to limp and reveal that the blisters were on my feet!
