haiku:

No shame in being

a newbie, just the trembling

thrill of a voice found.

He slid the card under the latch and lifted it up. Breaking into her house was much easier than breaking into her heart. He slid the door open as slowly and carefully as any Poe protagonist. And like many such characters found himself confronted by a cold steel weapon and an even colder stare. "Just what do you think you're doing?" May 23, 2006 08:54 AM (11:54 EST)

Interesting. They're drabbles, aren't they?

paperback writer: Can't say. What's a drabble?

Officially, wikipedia.com says that:

"A Drabble is an extremely short work of fiction with either exactly one hundred words or less (although some have extended this to mean 'short story of less than 500 words). The purpose of the drabble is brevity and to test author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in an extremely confined space.

That's the offical word on the street.

Sounds like the fictional version of a haiku. oneword.com gives you a new word every day and sixty seconds to write about it. You're not supposed to think, just write. Then you post your entry and can read what others have written. It's a fun exercise and often leads me to insight into my own mind. I highly recommend trying it.
