Though the beets had a profusion of greenery above the surface of the soil, below ground they were spindly, jejune little rootlings. I pulled some of the larger ones from the crowded bed to give the less developed ones a chance to grow. Tiny veggies may be in vogue, but they should at least be large enough to bite.
