Her surreptitious entry into the race was about to become very public. She shuddered to think what her father would do when he saw her mounted on his own brother's horse, but her uncle believed in her ability. He also supported her right to try to succeed in the career of her choice. What her father didn't know was that her mother secretly supported her, too.
