The scent of basil
is as enchanting as its
purple ruffled leaves.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?… There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do…as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." ~M.Williamson

I love Basil! First time I've ever seen it growing. Cool!!
Hmmm, I didn't know basil had purple leaves! Mmmmm....basil....
Well, now that's purple ruffled basil. The more common variety, sweet basil, has bright green leaves. You can see a bit of sweet basil in the lower left corner of the second picture. At the very top of the picture is some Siam Queen basil (also on the left of the first picture). The stuff on the right is parsley.
mmmmmmmmm fresh pesto!!!!!!!!!
*giggle* I made pesto last week and froze it in ice cube trays. Each pesto cube is a portion. They looked really funny when I removed them from the trays and put them in baggies. I kept thinking "Soylent Green is Pesto!"
.....mmmmm.....pesto.....
lol pesto cubes how cute!!!!
Bea, actually, they looked remarkably like the alfalfa cubes we sold for rabbits at the pet store where I used to work. Not the most appetizing idea, but I'm sure I'll be able to disregard the similarity when I thaw them and toss the pesto with some nice penne or drizzle it over some tomatoes and fresh mozzarella!
Word, PW! LOL! Say it with me now...mmmmmm pesto!
