55 Fiction Friday

Iris pressed her chilled fingers to her heart with a gasp. She felt the key's shape beneath her jacket, and it was enough to stiffen her resolve. She swallowed both her bile and her nerve, straightened her shoulders and accepted the return of her handkerchief from the warm hand of the tall, dark haired stranger.
