#AtFirstKiss πŸ’‹ Vol. 69

The kiss of a whisker makes me shiver

Spirits entice but rarely deliver

The wind rattles leaves and rattles my bones

Whirls all in a dance to the tune it moans

The moon peek-a-boos with clouds for a screen

Lighting the shadow shades of Halloween

'Souffle Undone'

She started to wipe the tears from her cheeks.

"Wait," he begged. He snapped a picture and showed it to her.

When she saw the pink tear tracks through the soot on her face she couldn't help but laugh.

"That's better," he said, wiping her lips clean with his handkerchief so he could kiss them, "I don't like to see you cry, but if you do cry I want to be there to see it."

The dark form disappeared into the gaping hole with a whoosh of clammy, fetid air dragging my grandad's corpse behind it.

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"What do you mean we?" My grandad's ghost shrugged, "Your mine now."

The sound of her laughter tickled his ears. She was somewhere nearby...nearer than she'd ever been before.

He ascended a flight of stairs. Suddenly his vision was blocked by a pair of small, cold hands.

Again the laughter, "You're mine now."

There was a taste

of Autumn about her kiss.

He wondered for a moment

if their romance was fading.

Then he realized it was just

the pumpkin spice on her lips.

Shadows kiss the corners of the room with caresses that tremble in the candlelight. The evening holds it's breath in anticipation of moonlight romance.

Ask her to dance? Yes. He could do that.

Smile and laugh and pretend it was all in fun? Yes. He could do that.

Pretend he didn't notice when she glanced at his lips and blushed? No. That he couldn't do.

"I know it's a cliche, but..." He extended a bouquet of red rosebuds.

"Nothing wrong with a good cliche," she replied, bending her head to take in their scent.

"You're right," he murmured as he drew her to him."I wonder how many cliches we can come up with between us."

Her lips were softer than the rose petals but not as soft as her sighs.

When a woman

has drunk from the

Fountain of Youth,

can one grow younger

just by kissing her lips?

ESCAPISM

I lie beside you listening to the rain and your breath

trying not to dwell in contemplation of loss and death.

Surrounded by all of the gifts that you have given me,

I know it's only my mind that keeps me from being free.

Though the shackles of my past should be more easily shed,

I doubt if even Houdini could escape from my head.

So, now I must realize that my saving grace is this:

my heart has faith that you will pass me the key with a kiss.

(for Mr. C from his Fair Damsel)

Written exactly 1 year before our wedding.

There were two men at the table who laughed loudest at her jokes while they stared daggers at each other.

But she turned the power of her gaze on the one with shyly downcast eyes, preferring blushes to bluster.

Her kiss, as soft as a petal, was enough to snap his heart,

the innocence of her love more seductive than any art.

The touch of her hands, cold and trembling, could set his soul on fire.

Her guileless eyes were the perfect trap to capture his desire.

I kissed his neck

the scent of his skin

awakening my desire

he hummed

with pleasure

had intentions

and so

while he continued

We were so young.

Spandau Ballet played

and our bodies swayed.

His kiss was clumsy

but not unwelcome.

I didn't know

until later

that it was his first.

I wish I had.

Instead of just

kissing him back,

I'd have knocked

his socks off.

Some kisses give and some kisses take.

Some are for real and some truly fake.

Some kisses heal and some kisses burn.

Some are lessons we never will learn.
