A warm day with early frost. I broke the ice for Limonaid, fed the chickens and collected one egg.

We watched Star Wars partway before preparing dinner: potatoes and veg by me: chicken, Yorkshire pudding & gravy by Fair Damsel.

Note from Mrs. C: I had some drippings from our Christmas chicken that I'd saved in the freezer. I used it for the Yorkshire Pudding. 😋

It's amazing what a few added stitches can do. The one on the left is faithful to the YouTube tutorial by AmiaMikanclCrochet. For the second one I added a 2 chain picot at the bottom and I think it really enhances the heart shape.

A cold day so I cleaned the appartement.

Fair Damsel needed some fishing line for a project and while locating it in the camper I found the keys to her bike lock which were lost when unpacking it.

She treated me to spam fritters for dinner.😋

'Carry On Digging'

Mr. C and I were watching an episode of 'Time Team' when I had a brilliant idea for a new comedy film: 'Carry On Digging' starting Tony Robinson and Phil Harding!

Talk about a stash buster! I'm afraid I lost count but I used up at least 30 small skeins of yarn bought years ago on clearance at $0.50 each. As they originally retailed for $5.99 you can imagine how chuffed I am to have such a cozy and luxurious new blankie. It's a continuous granny square made with mostly Bernat Boa yarn.

A night of heavy rain continued into the afternoon leaving everywhere waterlogged. Once it had stopped I gathered grass and dandelions from the lake area: Limonaid & Little Goat appreciated the change from hay.

I also learned the French word for paperclip is trombone.

A freezing but productive day. Before preparing breakfast I fed the animals, changed litter trays and charged the camper battery. This evening I insulated the bathroom and put the cats away before enjoying Fair Damsel's cooking.

After breaking the ice on Limonaid's water and feeding her and Little Goat, I noticed it was snowing: tiny blobs but it's a start.

Later I drove Fair Damsel to Laval where we stocked up on canisters for our gas heater.

Another chilly day but we managed to go shopping in the afternoon.

Later, Fair Damsel created a large frog which led on to a smaller companion. They're mine now and I think you can guess why.

Today we learned about the French tradition of the "Galette des Rois." I didn't know until my fork encountered it that they classically contained a fève or bean now represented as a prize in the form of a porcelain figure. Because I found it, I am The Queen but I let Mr. C have the crown anyway because we always share. We also learned about the series 'Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.' My prize is one of the teen heroines, Ladybug.

I can't bear to throw away even a scrap of yarn. The really tiny pieces I save to use as stuffing in cuddly toys. If something is even a foot long it gets joined into a scrap ball which eventually becomes something like this: a granny square Kindle envelope hot off the hook. 😁

Mr. C and I just pulled the wishbone, which we saved from Christmas dinner, at the stroke of midnight New Year's Eve here in France. I know whoever gets the larger half usually gets their wish but what does it mean when this happens? 🤯🤔
