Flash Fiction

#FlashFiction

"Is it possible?" he asked.

"Possible..." She laid a hand against his cheek.

"...probable..." She slid an arm around his waist.

"...likely..." She pressed her body against his.

"...and very definitely true." She kissed him.

To The Entwives

TO THE ENTWIVES

I have known you when

your leaves were green and supple

as the Western wind.

I have known you when

your leaves were brown and brittle

as any promise.

And I have known you

bare as the barren Winter

in your slumbers deep.

But dearest I have

known are the new buds that formed

on your fingertips.

For in each season

I've loved you but most as you

woke and stretched in Spring.

Breakfast

Rewatching 'The Tale of Despereaux,' I finally realized who my breakfasts by Mr. C remind me of.

#haiku

I wrote this a few months before Mr. C and I first "met" on Twitter, before the first time he called me "Sunbeam." Feels prophetic in retrospect.

Skylight Garden

I've been working on my skylight garden: succulents in mugs on the left, herbs (🎶 "Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme..."🎵) in the middle and flowers on the right (violas and bellflowers). I will take the rosemary and thyme out of the cups when their roots develop. I have about 1,000 baby violas in the planter out front from seeds that dropped from my spring plants; so I dug a few up that would have been crowded out by the geranium anyway and planted them in a pot. 🌱😁

Food by Lyndsey's fine
catering creates such a
romp for the senses!

Bloody Mary Shrimp Shooters

Bites of shrimp that bite
back a bit skinny dip with
tangy tomatoes.

Goat Cheese and Bacon Lollipops

Goats and pigs play quite
nice together, creamy and
smokey on a stick

Steak Crostini with Arugula and Horseradish Aioli

No cow was ever
so delicate as the steak
on this crostini.

Charcuterie and Cheese Board

Savory, spicy

even stinky, there's a taste
for every taste bud.

Cucumber Smoked Salon Cups

Smoked salmon and cukes
do a cool tango, cheek to
cheek, on my taste buds.

Fancy Deviled Eggs

Heavenly eggs with
devilishly delicious
twists classic and new.

Bakes Brie with Wine Soaked Berries
(not pictured)

Drunken berries and
brie that's baked pair perfectly
on a bed of bread.

Sweet maple syrup
turns bacon to dessert to
the delight of all.

Seasonal salad
with pearls of pasta, served chilled,
but warms up the heart.

are the heroes of this meal.
No capes are required.

The butternut squash
is lovingly blanketed
in pasta and cheese.

satisfy in a big way -
perfect finale.

tiny tastes of magical
treats for happy mouths.

depth both dark and bright adds to
the festivities.

from the maple's heart.
