We've spent a relaxing day which seemed fitting for our 5th wedding anniversary. I had my customary short nap after preparing and eating breakfast before joining Fair Damsel to make a wooden key holder as an appropriate gift to ourselves.

The weather cleared up in late afternoon so I took a brief bike ride into the village before cooking dinner: sausage & mash, petits pois et carottes, with lashings of bisto gravy for me. It went down a treat with a tasty mug o' tea as we watched a favourite episode of Jeeves and Wooster. We'll be having cake soon.😋

I crochet nearly every day. For a couple of days now I've been wanting to make my favourire beanie pattern just because I enjoy doing it but, with the warming weather, I thought it was silly to make a winter hat that no one currently needs. Finally, I reminded myself that I have free will and can crochet what I want when I want.

The traditional 5 year wedding anniversary gift is wood; so, Mr. C and I teamed up to make ourselves a key board for our entryway. He prepared the wood and I decorated.

It was a cold and rainy morning so we started our day with a tasty fryup. Then, after watching a couple of our favourite late night shows, we settled down to listen to a Terry Pratchett story.

I tested a cute little bee keychain pattern by @crochetbylauren4u (Instagram). I made a second one with embroidered eyes and a crocheted hanging loop to be baby safe (no small parts).

We started our day with a late tasty fryup.The bright sunshine streamed through the french windows and warmed us for the first time in ages. I had planned to head to the local post office to post some important documents, but saw online that it was temporarily closed until next week. Undaunted, I decided to head to the one in town later in the day.

Unfortunately, it was not to be because I felt absolutely shattered by mid-afternoon and ached all over. I'd not been feeling brilliant for awhile tbh but had put it down to too much activity on the shopping front. However, upon checking my post-op advice, I discovered that I hadn't been drinking enough water and had symptoms of dehydration. I quickly drank two glasses of water and had a long nap. Meanwhile, Fair Damsel cleaned Rinsewind's birdcage before continuing with her crocheting whilst listening to a Terry Pratchett story. 

I awoke feeling much better and to celebrate, I cooked us bangers & mash for dinner. It went down a treat with a tasty mug o' tea and an episode of Death in Paradise.😋

I was honored to help test a Baby Pangolin pattern for Alba Gonzalez. One of the other testers suggested a mole modification; so, I made this little fella. He's a star nosed mole whom Mr. C has named Ringo. Alba has included her own adorable mole in the pattern.

We spent a relaxing afternoon listening to a Terry Pratchett story until it was time to prepare Sunday dinner. I ventured outside briefly to feed the chickens and take the recycling to the main road.

Dinner was a team effort as usual with Fair Damsel making toad-in-the-hole, with proper Lincolnshire sausages, and I taking care of the rest. It went down a treat with a tasty mug o' tea as we continued with the story.😋

We enjoyed an English fried breakfast, following our trip to Elliotts Boucherie on Friday. We had to leave the Lincolnshire sausages to thaw over Saturday but it was well worth the wait. Fair Damsel had an avocado with hers and I had baked beans with mine: absolutely Sunbeamadelicious!😋

I fell asleep shortly afterwards and slept soundly for a couple of hours at least.

It was a successful day all round thanks to Fair Damsel and good weather. It started with a quick trip to Intermarche by me; to get essential supplies and fuel for Sarah's car as we intended to visit Elliotts Boucherie (English Butchers) in the afternoon. When I returned, we ate a fried breakfast as we watched our favourite American talk shows.

We set off on the long drive to Elliotts at 14:00 hrs on the dot and the journey went smoothly. There was evidence of flooding in the lower areas along the way but we were well above it. We passed a large group of cyclists who were evidently in training for an upcoming event and I have to admit that I thought about going cycling at the weekend.

The staff at Elliotts were as friendly as before and I chatted to a very tall man who was stacking the shelves. He noticed me looking at Branston baked beans and asked if they tasted like Branston pickle. I told him that I wouldn't be buying them if they did! Meanwhile, Fair Damsel stocked up on pork pies, chicken & mushroom pies, sausage rolls, Shredded Wheat, mushy peas. strawberry jelly and assorted other items: I stocked up on Lincolnshire sausages, smoked bacon, and Branston baked beans.

We took a steady drive home (isn't home a wonderful word?) and Fair Damsel took a few photographs along the way. I have to admit that we were pretty tired by the time we settled down to a mug o' tea and a pork pie as we watched Stephen Colbert.

Dinner was later than usual with Fair Damsel enjoying a chicken & mushroom pie with steamed potatoes whilst I tucked into a sausage roll, steamed potatoes and baked beans.😋

Out and about with Mr. 'n' Mrs. C 🌞❤️🌻...

We drove just over an hour away to Elliotts Boucherie (well worth the trip!) this afternoon where we picked up lots of yummy English treats.

There has been widespread flooding in France but we, fortunately, are not near the worst of it. We did pass several fields that are now lakes and counted ourselves very lucky that the roads were clear. The green blobs in the trees are mistletoe.

We had a lovely breakfast and were relaxing with a bit of Sir Terry Pratchett on audiobook when Mr. C looked out of the skylight and called me over. It's been raining for weeks, making Limonaid and Little Goat's field a wetland. Today this attracted dozens of white egrets to fish for worms and bugs.

One of my favourite meals in France, parmentier de canard (duck topped with mashed potatoes) was enhanced by the new cutlery John got for our kitchen for my birthday. 😋

I fnished my headband and I'm wearing one of the 2 new outfits John got me for my birthday.

It didn't take me long to decide what to make first with my new yarn. I'm making myself an Irish flag 🇮🇪🍀 headband to wear on St. Patrick's Day.

As it was a brighter start to the day, I took the opportunity to drive to our local post office to dispatch another set of documents that I'd already completed on-line. There was a slight drizzle on the way, but it had cleared by the time I reached my destination.

Once home (isn't home a wonderful word?) I cooked breakfast and we listened to a Terry Pratchett story as we ate. Afterwards, I checked the post and found two letters for Fair Damsel, one of which was to related to the issuing of her health card.

Then, I chatted to Sarah in the pool area before driving Fair Damsel into town to replenish our supplies and buy a few treats for Valentine's Day and her birthday which are both on Saturday. By this time the sky was beginning to darken and rain quickly, followed but not before she took a photo of emerging daffodils.

The rest of our time has been spent relaxing and continuing with the story until it's time for dinner which will set us up for another Death in Paradise and possibly Small Prophets, if I'm not too tired.
