Update on us...

19:50 hrs

The morning started rough as I got up and ready for Mr. C to drive me to La Poste in Cuillé only to find that it's closed until Tuesday.

We decided to try the postal dispatch in Craon, which is a bit of a drive. That wasn't too bad as we had the use of Sarah's car to reduce the travel time. Unfortunately the staff there told me they couldn't ship my package even though I'd mailed things from there before, something about codes changing. My French is still limited; so, I didn't completely understand, but she said I would have to go to the post office in the town center. I wasn't up for dealing with that and decided to try Cuillé again on Tuesday.

We went to Le Noz where we found a number of treats and a very much needed new coat for Mr. C at a bargain price.

Aldi yielded more goodies including some of their store brand beans for Mr. C to try and compare with his beloved Heinz. If he likes them we will go back for more as they are a fraction of the price. Baguettes were only 28 centimes; so, we got two: one for us and one for Sarah 

I stayed in the car and had a snack while Mr. C gathered the last few things on our list at Super U before driving us home (Isn't home a wonderful word, Sunbeams?) for a nice cup of tea.

We'll be having tomato soup and baguette for dinner shortly.

Mr. C returned from an errand all smiles with a gift for me. He was stunned when I explained that the plastic cups were shot glasses (We don't drink.) not candle holders. However, being a loving wife and having a pack of battery operated tea lights in my arsenal, I made his vision a reality..

Update on us.

A cold, bright start to the day provided the perfect opportunity for a short bike ride before breakfast. It was freezing cold on the hands though, so I didn't stay out long.

The rest of the day was spent indoors, apart from a brief bike ride to the nearby chateau to drop off a letter from England that had been delivered to us by mistake.

Sunday dinner was a joint effort as usual with me in charge of the roast potatoes and veg whilst Fair Damsel took charge of the Yorkshire pudding, gravy, and, as a special treat, homemade thyme & parsley stuffing which she made for the first time ever. It was absolutely Sunbeamadelicious and went down a treat with an episode of Midsommer Murders.😋

Mr. C is such a good sport. Not only is he going to join me in starting 'Lord Of The Rings,' the extended edition at 08:35:38 so that Gandalf will say "It is 10 o'clock in the morning on October the 24th" at exactly the right time, but he's brought me tea and toast for first breakfast. We are going to try and have something for every Hobbit meal today. Second breakfast will be a fry up. 😋

10 hats are ready to go out and spread random kindness, plus 4 I've set aside for when I can find a cancer center to donate them to. Each one has a little red heart with it. The tags say (in French) "a hat to warm the head and the heart." I will be making more. I'm grateful to my Fairy Yarnmothers for the yarn they sent me.

I wanted to try some new hat patterns but didn't have much worsted weight (4 ply) yarn. So I paired some DK (3 ply) with some multicolored sock yarn I had in my stash. I love the result.

Mr. C gave me The Granny Square Card Deck for my birthday. I'll #crochet 1 square every week with Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8 yarn, size H (5mm) hook. This will give me 50 squares with 2 weeks to join them into...something before my next birthday. Week 36 - Labyrinth Square

I didn't feel like doing much at all; so, after doing a few French lessons and making breakfast, I took a nap. When I awoke, a couple of hours later, Fair Damsel posited the idea of going shopping. Neither of us were enthusiastic tbh, but we made the effort. I'm glad we did because Fair Damsel made a Sunbeamadelicious find: 'le parmentier de boeuf'. It turned out to be a massive coincidence because on the way to Intermarche, I'd said that I'd been thinking about the time we'd had a Fray Bentos beef & onion pie and this was the French equivalent.

Out and about with Mr. 'n' Mrs. C 🌞❤️🌻...

Neither of us felt like going out today, but I have learned that when I feel able to do what's needed it's better to do so. Who knows how my body will behave tomorrow. So, Mr. C and I hopped into the camper and headed to Intermarche. We were rewarded with some lovely scenery and a treat for dinner that Mr. C will tell you about later.

I had squid for lunch. Not bad 99 centimes ($1.15 USD). 😋

There are 3 versions on this pattern. Last night I made the star. So far the moon is my favourite. I need to get some deeper yellow yarn so I can try the sun version.

A little pouch for earbuds or other small items: of course, when I leave them out as Random Acts Of Crochet Kindness, I put a few sweeties inside.

On my way out with Mr. C to go shopping, I noticed 3 feathers in one of my flower boxes, now fallow with sorrel. They were still there when we got home; so, I collected them. They may be from the same bird, but definitely not the same wing. Two are lefties and one a rightie. Having no idea what or who might have left them, I decided to leave 3 pieces of fresh bread in return. I'm not about to risk offending any of The Fair Folk, especially in October.

Mr. C walked into the village on an errand this morning and returned wearing a big, satisfied grin. He had popped into the only local business, the pub, Chez Flo, and bought something. No. Not a drink. (He's a teetotaller.) It was a present for me. I must say that my new jack-o-lantern tray made my breakfast even more of a delight.

Thanks to Fair Damsel's cunning plot, I was able to celebrate the seventh anniversary of our first in-person meeting and first kiss with a tasty breakfast of Heinz baked beans on toast. They went down a treat with a tasty mug o' tea.
