An early start followed by a long drive and lengthy interview in French, conducted with Michel's help, left us feeling very tired but happy.

We celebrated with a tasty tea.

I saw an idea for making bookmarks from recycled greeting cards. They were cut into rectangles with a crocheted border and a tassel. I took the square inserts from some boxes of soap and made my own variations.

Mr. C drove me home from a necessary trip to the pharmacy through the mist and rain via the scenic route. We were rewarded with a siege of egrets and a solitary donkey.

A productive trip to Laval where my SIM card was resized for my new phone and we found several bargains in local stores.

A quick trip into town proved lucky as I found Heinz baked beans & sausages reduced to 1.40€ which is a massive saving so I bought the last 5 tins.

Fair Damsel treated me to Cornish pasties which was the icing on the cake 😋

I was almost halfway finished making another hat for people in need when I realized I didn't have enough of the blue yarn to finish it. I had seen some two-toned versions and decided to try it. Not bad, I think.

I took a stroll to our lake to view the activity from yesterday. It was heartbreaking to see so many trees reduced to stumps and even the camera refused to record such carnage.

I got crafty with a couple of crates gleaned from nearby shops. I built bunk beds for the kitties using old cushions and an airline blanket. Moriarty has given them the once over. Watson is being more cautious.

It has been a good day.

Fair Damsel has a new phone after months of struggling with her old one.

I've been shopping and treated myself to jam donuts.

To celebrate Fair Damsel made salmon and crème fraîche en croûte and I made mash potatoes.😋

I've spent most of the day setting up my new phone. My old one had a cracked screen and the battery was dying. I also got a French phone account. I'll be closing my mostly useless American account at the end of the month. C'est la vie.

First beanie of 2025 finished. I learned a new (to me) pattern so I could make hats that are simple, soft, and warm. I plan on leaving them in the lobby of the library and in a local chapel.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my French soup and sandwich: dix legumes (10 veggies) soupe a la creme and a grilled livarot (a soft, pungent, washed rind cheese made from Normande cow's milk) sandwich. 😋 #cheese 

Anyone who follows my #crochet adventures knows I love learning new granny squares. I made 4 that I really like but ran out of the yarn I used. I stitched them together, added zipper and a liner, et voila! I have a sunny new pouch for my crochet hooks. I love it! 😁

 

 

This was our last sunset of 2024. I dearly hope that 2025 is filled with peace and joy for everyone.
