(Even In Their Thirties)
I watched the little girl
clomping along on her impractical
first pair of platform clogs
which she obviously refused
to admit she’d outgrown
though her heels
overhung the backs
by half an inch,
remembering when I
had done the same
twice her lifetime ago.
