His eyes searched the room knowing she must be there. She was. She sat in a corner surrounded by suitors for whom she cared not a jot. She had come out of obligation, fully prepared to be bored senseless. She felt surprise akin to shock when her gaze drifted up and locked with his. Her blush was all the encouragement he needed. He crossed the room before her heart could begin to beat again and took her by the hands. His first question was unexpected, "Is there any mistletoe about?"
"The dining room doorway," she breathed.
"Will you accompany me to the dining room doorway, please?"
Fortunately she knew the quickest route there.
