Mr. C gave me The Granny Square Card Deck for my birthday. I'll #crochet 1 square every week with Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8 yarn, size H (5mm) hook. This will give me 50 squares with 2 weeks to join them into...something before my next birthday. Week 35 - Rainy Day Puddles Square

On my way out with Mr. C to go shopping, I noticed 3 feathers in one of my flower boxes, now fallow with sorrel. They were still there when we got home; so, I collected them. They may be from the same bird, but definitely not the same wing. Two are lefties and one a rightie. Having no idea what or who might have left them, I decided to leave 3 pieces of fresh bread in return. I'm not about to risk offending any of The Fair Folk, especially in October.

Mr. C walked into the village on an errand this morning and returned wearing a big, satisfied grin. He had popped into the only local business, the pub, Chez Flo, and bought something. No. Not a drink. (He's a teetotaller.) It was a present for me. I must say that my new jack-o-lantern tray made my breakfast even more of a delight.

Thanks to Fair Damsel's cunning plot, I was able to celebrate the seventh anniversary of our first in-person meeting and first kiss with a tasty breakfast of Heinz baked beans on toast. They went down a treat with a tasty mug o' tea.

A cold, dark, damp, overcast start to the day didn't really inspire me to do very much tbh. I was quite content with feeding the animals, doing my french lessons, and preparing breakfast before settling down to a story on YouTube.

However, Fair Damsel had other ideas and, despite my lack of enthusiasm, she persuaded me to make the long drive to Craon as she wanted to visit Bazarland to look for craft items and I could look for baked beans in Super U.

The journey saw blue skies appear which really perked me up and when we arrived she headed for Bazarland whilst I popped into Super U. I wasn't very hopeful about finding Heinz baked beans tbh, as I'd tried several times before without success. Wonder of wonders, I found loads and bought 12 tins for just under 28€.

When I rejoined her and told her the good news it turned out that it had all been a ruse because what she really wanted was for me to take the opportunity to look for baked beans.

Our adopted orphan starling, Rincewind, is quite clever. They have started speaking human. This isn't even the clearest we've heard "pretty bird" from them.

This was a field of sunflowers last season. Its been left fallow now but there are some little volunteer sunflowers that have sprouted from leftover seeds. Look at this brave bloom, unwilling to give up despite the odds.

It's been a lovely day today. I was pleased to be able to get outside to weed my herb garden. I still need to get a sage plant for the empty spot.

Mr. C and I were driving from our home in Gastiines, France to his doctor's appointment in our camping car when I noticed that we had a stowaway. This brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) rode the entire 25 km (15.5 miles) to Vitré on our wing mirror. We named him Erik. 

If Mr. C stops to pet Moriarty on his way down the stairs Watson is sure to come running. She can't stand to miss anything.

After my scan yesterday, the technician advised me of possible side effects and to drink plenty of water to clear the radioactive solution. I didn't experience much in the way of side effects last night and didn't even glow in the dark which was disappointing. However, today I had to cancel our shopping trip because I haven't been able to stay awake and slept for hours. Luckily, Fair Damsel had bought treats yesterday: a macaron with raspberries and cream for her, and an apple tartlet for me. Absolutely Sunbeamadelicious.😋

An early start today to ensure that we reached the hospital in plenty of time for my scan. Fair Damsel navigated and we arrived with some twenty minutes to spare. Surprisingly, there was a clear area in the lower carpark and we parked easily next to a large luxury camper.

I left Fair Damsel with the full expectation of being gone for about an hour. I had my paperwork checked at reception and headed for the scanner suite. There were a few minutes of confusion when the young receptionist took my appointment form and demanded another form. I hadn't a clue what she was talking about and it looked like she was going to turn me away. Luckily, the older receptionist intervened and and directed me to the waiting area. I was seen within five minutes and the scan lasted about twenty-five. I must admit that I found it most interesting to see my skeleton on the monitor.

Fair Damsel wasn't expecting me to be back so soon and thought that something had gone wrong again, but was quickly reassured that everything had gone well. We took a short break to eat our ham sandwiches and as we were about to leave two women approached the luxury camper. One had her arm in a cast and as her companion was helping her on with her coat Fair Damsel called them over to give them one of her free crochet gifts of a bonbonnière. The were reluctant to accept it at first but once they understood its purpose their faces lit up. Then we drove to a local shopping park where we picked up a few items from an Action discount store and an Intermarche.

We were home a little before one and agreed that it had been a good outing. Naturally, we celebrated by eating our remaining sandwiches, washed down with mugs o' tea, as we watched our favourite shows on YouTube. I dropped off after an episode of Campion and awoke to find Fair Damsel had started preparing dinner: jacket potatoes with Heinz sausages & baked beans. Absolutely Sunbeamadelicious.😋

Mr. C had a scan this morning. He was lying down to take a nap this afternoon and wondered aloud if the stuff they'd injected him with would make him glow in the dark. Oh, if only I'd had some glow in the dark makeup I could have smeared on him while he was sleeping!

We'd intended a doing nothing day in preparation for my scan tomorrow. It didn't quite turn out that way, although I did have a nap right after breakfast.

About four o'clock, I had a change of heart and decided to do some gardening. I didn't manage an awful lot because I tire easily, but I managed to clear a decent amount of weeds.

Meanwhile, Fair Damsel took the opportunity to put away the laundry and do some gardening of her own by tending her skylight garden.

Dinner was a joint effort, as usual, with Fair Damsel making a Sunbeamadelicious ham & tomato omelette, whilst I prepared fried potatoes and two tasty mugs o' tea. They went down a treat with an episode of Midsommers Murders.

I'm so glad my friend, Peggy, asked me how I embroidered the eyes on my octopi. When I rewatched a video tutorial before sending it to her I realized that I'd forgotten the little white glints in the eyes. It really makes a difference.
