Mr. C and I were driving from our home in Gastiines, France to his doctor's appointment in our camping car when I noticed that we had a stowaway. This brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) rode the entire 25 km (15.5 miles) to VitrΓ© on our wing mirror. We named him Erik.

Update on us.

17: 39 hrs

After my scan yesterday, the technician advised me of possible side effects and to drink plenty of water to clear the radioactive solution. I didn't experience much in the way of side effects last night and didn't even glow in the dark which was disappointing. However, today I had to cancel our shopping trip because I haven't been able to stay awake and slept for hours. Luckily, Fair Damsel had bought treats yesterday: a macaron with raspberries and cream for her, and an apple tartlet for me. Absolutely Sunbeamadelicious.πŸ˜‹

Mr. C gave me The Granny Square Card Deck for my birthday. I'll #crochet 1 square every week with Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8 yarn, size H (5mm) hook. This will give me 50 squares with 2 weeks to join them into...something before my next birthday. Week 33 - Blueberry Fields Square

Update on us.

21:07 hrs

An early start today to ensure that we reached the hospital in plenty of time for my scan. Fair Damsel navigated and we arrived with some twenty minutes to spare. Surprisingly, there was a clear area in the lower carpark and we parked easily next to a large luxury camper.

I left Fair Damsel with the full expectation of being gone for about an hour. I had my paperwork checked at reception and headed for the scanner suite. There were a few minutes of confusion when the young receptionist took my appointment form and demanded another form. I hadn't a clue what she was talking about and it looked like she was going to turn me away. Luckily, the older receptionist intervened and and directed me to the waiting area. I was seen within five minutes and the scan lasted about twenty-five. I must admit that I found it most interesting to see my skeleton on the monitor.

Fair Damsel wasn't expecting me to be back so soon and thought that something had gone wrong again, but was quickly reassured that everything had gone well. We took a short break to eat our ham sandwiches and as we were about to leave two women approached the luxury camper. One had her arm in a cast and as her companion was helping her on with her coat Fair Damsel called them over to give them one of her free crochet gifts of a bonbonnière. The were reluctant to accept it at first but once they understood its purpose their faces lit up. Then we drove to a local shopping park where we picked up a few items from an Action discount store and an Intermarche.

We were home a little before one and agreed that it had been a good outing. Naturally, we celebrated by eating our remaining sandwiches, washed down with mugs o' tea, as we watched our favourite shows on YouTube. I dropped off after an episode of Campion and awoke to find Fair Damsel had started preparing dinner: jacket potatoes with Heinz sausages & baked beans. Absolutely Sunbeamadelicious.πŸ˜‹

Mr. C had a scan this morning. He was lying down to take a nap this afternoon and wondered aloud if the stuff they'd injected him with would make him glow in the dark. Oh, if only I'd had some glow in the dark makeup I could have smeared on him while he was sleeping!

Update on us

We'd intended a doing nothing day in preparation for my scan tomorrow. It didn't quite turn out that way, although I did have a nap right after breakfast.

About four o'clock, I had a change of heart and decided to do some gardening. I didn't manage an awful lot because I tire easily, but I managed to clear a decent amount of weeds.

Meanwhile, Fair Damsel took the opportunity to put away the laundry and do some gardening of her own by tending her skylight garden.

Dinner was a joint effort, as usual, with Fair Damsel making a Sunbeamadelicious ham & tomato omelette, whilst I prepared fried potatoes and two tasty mugs o' tea. They went down a treat with an episode of Midsommers Murders.

I'm so glad my friend, Peggy, asked me how I embroidered the eyes on my octopi. When I rewatched a video tutorial before sending it to her I realized that I'd forgotten the little white glints in the eyes. It really makes a difference.

Update on us.

Continued...

The early start, coupled with the long drive and visit to the laboratory for a bloodtest, had left me tired and I fell asleep shortly after eating my chicken sandwiches. I awoke just after 5 pm to find that Fair Damsel had been busy crocheting an octopus and repotting her Mother's Day plant.

She is now using the mug that it came in.

Whilst Fair Damsel was tucking into her brunch, I went to check the postbox and saw the post woman driving away.

Just one item was in the box... My birthday card from Momma Wolf Shelly who lives in England. She had posted it on September 12th, well in advance of my birthday. After this morning's debacle at thehospital, the timing was perfect.

Update on us.

19:43 hrs.

We had series of powerful thunderstorms last night and had a brief power cut which took out the WiFi for a few minutes.

Today has been more settled with a mixture of blue sky and threatening dark clouds coupled with strong winds.

We popped out to top up with diesel in the late afternoon as I have another appointment at Vitre hospital in the morning. Fair Damsel took a photo of the sky to capture the stark split between blue sky and threatening cloud.

There was a moment of unease after filling up when the camper refused to start, but I gave it a couple of minutes, at Fair Damsel's behest, tried again and it started. This often happens after heavy overnight rain or cold temperatures, so I'll be charging the battery later just to be on the safe side.

I was resting after our shopping trip and trying to place the pleasant, almost subliminal scent teasing my nostrils. Then I realized it was the Edding's Silverberry (Eleagnus ebbingei) blooming by the driveway wafting in through the open windows. I had to go out and pluck a few sprigs for my bedside table. You wouldn't think such tiny blossoms could produce so much sweetness.

Strong winds and rain today, so I gave gardening a miss. I contented myself with watching classic Time Team on YouTube and generally taking it easy.

Another warm day, ideal for relaxing indoors with another couple of episodes of Time Team. The first was from the new series and we both agreed that it has improved since the first few viewings. The second was from the original team who stand head & shoulders above the new one.

For dinner, Fair Damsel treated us to baked chicken with jacket potato and peas & carrots. Mine was extra special.❤️❤️

A cool start to the day proved to be deceptive as it became much warmer when we were driving into town. On the way we passed a huge black bull which we'd never seen before and discussed the possibility of it having been brought in to service the farmer's herd.

In Intermarche, Fair Damsel found a few treats: salmon quiche and a pot of gerbera daisies for her and a huge collection of cookies for me. She had the salmon quiche with mozzarella sticks, and I treated myself to beans with bread & margarine.

Absolutely Sunbeamadelicious.πŸ˜‹
